Taracea is the Spanish term for a wooden mosaic: a large geometric shape, which in turn consists of skilfully arranged, smaller puzzle pieces in contrasting types of wood, colours and shapes. In all this diversity of woods, shapes and colours, the Taracea is also one big cohesive unit. And, that is the basis for this programme, in which recorder quintet Seldom Sene juxtaposes and connects old with new music and old with new instruments. This creates a contrast-rich mosaic of exquisite 16th century consort music, inventive variations, a swinging suite and a virtuoso concerto. A mix of styles and composition types, with the musicians using about 50 instruments, so that the scintillating recorder quintet repertoire unfolds itself as a multicoloured soundscape to the listener.
